How Do You Join Insight?
Insight does not have any prerequisites for writers and columnists, other than an understanding of the English language. Barring anything out of the ordinary, you are approved to write as soon as you have informed the staff that you would like to do so. It is recommended that you attend at least one meeting to familiarize yourself with Insight policies and editors (see below for times).
Other positions, such as Business or Layout positions, may require an interview or examples of qualifications.
Insight holds two official meetings per week (our office is located in Von Ohlen 230): Tuesday, 2:00 PM - Editors-only Meeting
Thursday, 2:00 PM - General Staff Meeting
Editor's meetings will focus on layout decisions, article placement, staff recruitment and other business matters. Attendance to Editor's meeting is restricted to editors only, unless prior arrangements are made. For example, a staff member wishing to bring an issue to the editor's attention may request to be added to the Editor's Meeting Agenda. The staff member will only be present at the Editor's meeting for the duration of their issue's discussion.
General staff meetings will only focus on article ideas, deadlines and fundraisers.
